Fats
Fats are part of the broader family of biological molecules called lipids, which do not mix readily with water. In living systems they store concentrated energy, form and regulate cell membranes, provide insulation and protection, and act as precursors or signals in processes such as metabolism and hormone regulation; common biological lipids include triglycerides, phospholipids, fatty acids, and sterols.
